This is a book about a girl who travels to her mother's country and finds that she is short of one crucial element that would make her trip a complete success - a salwar-kameez!
Thus starts Ambika's journey towards finding the right colors and the perfect design for a salwar-kameez. This is not just any piece of clothing, this is to be a special one that she will wear to her cousin's wedding. The wedding preparations are in full flow and Ambika waits, with bated breath. to see if she will, after all, be able to dance at the party in her new salwar-kameez or not!

This is a book about exploration, creativity, and family.
About ...

I always wanted to write. When I had children I also got a khazana (a treasure trove) of stories which go along with bringing up little ones who see so much to wonder about in the world around them! I loved their perspectives on the ordinary things we see around us. I loved their sense of urgency and their simple desires which were also - in a way - profound.
I grew up in India and was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel and live outside of the big cities in small towns and villages where life is slower and people look at you with interest and curiosity. I returned that curiosity with appreciation and my own musings about their life, their stories, their particular distinct culture and traditions. As some of you may know (and others may guess) every part of India is its own microcosm.
I love to write and read and, I should add, to teach! To some degree, I am doing all three :)
Thank you for picking up my book. I hope it is an adventure for you as well.
